DOWN Sever Ties With ELEKTRA RECORDS
December 17, 2003DOWN, the New Orleans supergroup featuring Philip Anselmo (vocals, SUPERJOINT RITUAL, ex-PANTERA),Pepper Keenan (guitars, C.O.C.),Jimmy Bower (drums, EYETHATEGOD, SUPERJOINT RITUAL),Rex Brown (bass, ex-PANTERA) and Kirk Windstein (guitars, CROWBAR),have severed their ties with Elektra Records, according to DOWN's official webmaster Justin.
Anselmo, who has made it clear in recent interviews that he has put all of his other projects on the backburner while he is concentrating on SUPERJOINT RITUAL, has previously blamed (mp3) the relatively disappointing commercial performance of DOWN's sophomore album, "Down II", on Elektra's unwillingness to properly promote the CD, which came out in March 2002.
It is not presently clear if DOWN's split with Elektra will open the door for a possible third album from the group, who headlined the second stage at the 2002 Ozzfest.
